Titans win derby thriller against Redruth

TAUNTON Titans hung on to gain a thrilling 35-33 home victory over Redruth to stay fourth in National Two South.

Leading 25-5 at the break, Titans appeared to have the game wrapped up but the Cornish side fought back in the second half and looked winners themselves after taking the lead towards the end.
But Titans grabbed the lead back again through Andy England and managed to stay two points ahead to avenge a 29-27 defeat by Redruth on their own ground early in the season.
This was Titans’ fourth victory in a row and sets them up nicely for the New Year.
Titans scored tries through Jarrad Hayler, Ratu Vatalutukali, Jacob Nash, Nick Mason and England with Gary Kingdom kicking two penalties and two conversions.
Redruth’s try scorers were Brad Jones, Richard Brown, Sam Stevens (2), and Ben Fox with Ashley Hoskings landing four conversions.
Rams have an 11-point lead at the top of the table and remain firm favourites for the title, with only five points separately the next three teams - Henley, Canterbury and Titans.
Titans’ next game on January 5 is a derby match away to Clifton who are down in 11th place.
