Titans lose out to Barnes

TAUNTON Titans’ defensive frailties returned with a vengeance at Barnes where they slumped to a 51-38 defeat in National Two South.

This was the Somerset side’s third defeat of the season and they now trail leaders Rams, who visit Taunton on Saturday week, by eight points, both teams having played the same number of games.
Barnes had the game virtually wrapped up by half-time when they led 25-0.

Titans, who scored 50 points without conceding in their previous game, came out for the second half looking a different team but they were always playing catch-up rugby.

They went on to score six tries - through Jarrod Hayler (2), Noah Sixton, Danny Lee and Chris Francis, with Gary Kingdom kicking four conversions.

Although they have no match this coming Saturday, Titans’ management need to take another look at the way they defend before the visit of Rams.
