BABYLON sponsored by Potts Law Firm, hosted Abbey Meads at home at the weekend, taking the win 82-31.

Babylon took a while to settle at the start of this weeks match and Abbey Meads were goal for goal with us for the first half of the first quarter. Once Babylon started to take the time to think about their passes, they started to pull away and lead at quarter time by 7 goals, 17-10.

No changes were made to the team and Babylon took the court determined to consolidate on the strong finish to the last quarter. Babylon succeed in this and only allowed the opposition to score 4 goals, whilst scoring 23 themselves, a fantastic quarter, leading 40-14 at half time.

Changes were made at half time bringing on the rest of the squad. This quarter showed the strength of the whole squad as Babylon continued to work together to put pressure on every single Abbey Meads pass and covert any interceptions made. Babylon extended their lead to end the quarter 60-20.

The final quarter saw Babylon set themselves the target of breaking the 80 goal target. Continuing to build on the fantastic squad performance, Babylon did not disappoint and finished the game with the amazing score 82-31.

Thank you to everyone who came to support

Newton sponsored by Battens Charitable Trust had an inter club match against Wyndham at the weekend. But could Wyndham stop Newton’s winning streak?

Wyndham definitely started the stronger and calmer of the two teams. Converting to goal a lot easier than Newton and leading at one point by six goals. Our defence were staying strong, but our attack where struggling to convert to goal. Wyndham were leading by two goals at the end of the first quarter.

A switch of positions for a couple of players helped steady the centre court down sightly. It was still goal for goal through the whole of the quarter. Newton finished the quarter leading by one.

We knew this was going to be a hard match but didn’t imagine the score would be so tight. Defence were doing a sterling job turning over ball, but the attack not always rewarding them with a goal.

All the team worked hard to push on but couldn’t get the gap and safety we needed. The score reflected this with Wyndham up by one goal.

The last quarter was so critical for Newton to continue to have their unbeaten run and remain on course to win the league.Newton stayed calm and pulled away by four goals but it still remained a tight match. Newton remained patient moving the ball around in attack until a clear chance became available.

Newton came out on top winning by just two goals. This is a great reflection on the club, to have that strength in depth, with Wyndham pushing us all the way.

PP and OP both went to Sasha. Well deserved.

Hendford sponsored by Morson Projects, played vipers at home on Saturday. The first quarter started off well with good movement around the D and with the defence working well together getting some amazing interceptions The quarter ended 9-12 to vipers

Going into the second quarter the team stayed the same. With the ball moving down the court well and with the defence getting some good tips putting pressure on the ball. Hendford won the quarter by 2 goals narrowing the gap to one goal. The quarters ended 19 - 20 to vipers.

Going Into the third quarter there were a few team changes made and a switch up of positions with the shooters working well together and defence continuing to pressure each pass it ended 30-31 to vipers.

Going into the last quarter and only one goal behind the team stayed the same with the defence getting some flying interceptions and the ball being work down the court safety finishing with the accurate shoots going in but unfortunately the game ended 37-39 to vipers.
