Somerset County Sports team win T&P Pro Am


TAUNTON and Pickeridge Golf Club hosted their 28th Charity Pro-Am last Friday which attracted 41 teams, making it one of the largest in the South West.

The Pro-Am Competition was won by the Somerset County Sports team that consisted of professional Sion Bebb (Morlais Castle Golf Club) along with James Brice, Jon Webster and Nick Dean (-16)

Second place went to Tom Hanson (Ping Europe), Rob Hagley, Dan Smith and Ricky Baker (-14), while third was claimed by Louis Boston (Chippenham Golf Club), Jason Brock, Barry Hardwill, & Andy Sheehan (-14), Kevin Pitts (Allinonegolf), Chris Coxon, Luke Whitear and David Kennedy(-13) were fourth, and Katie Rule (Mendip Spring Golf Club), Georgia Richards, Janet Kingston and Jan Hill (-12) came fifth.

On a steamy hot Tuesday the Ladies of Taunton and Pickeridge played the re-scheduled Hawkes Salver and Hawkes Cup.

The winner of the Salver, which is for the Silver Division, was Gill Shire with 34 points on countback from Carole Rotheram who was second while Georgia Richards was third rd with 33 points.

The Hawkes Cup, for the Bronze Division, was won by Jo Evans with 36 points. Patsy Morgan, Linda Knowles, Jan Hill who all returned with 34 points were claimed second third and fourth places respectively.

The 9 hole competition was won by Maureen Hailes.

The D Day Event that took place at Taunton and Pickeridge Golf club was held on the 8th June 2019, to mark the 75th Anniversary of the D Day Landings on the 6th June 1944 raised £970.

The golf competition that was won by Mike Hooper and Andy Willetts, was followed by a 1940ís evening with many members dressed accordingly.

The event was organised by John Godley T&P Club Captain and the monry raised was donated to the Dunkirk House Memorial Fund and presented to the Dunkirk House Manager, Anne Lewis on the 19th of July 2019 at the Taunton and Pickeridge Golf Club.
