Ladies' Captain's Charity Bowmaker a success at T&P

 

A FIELD of 132 competed in the Ladiesí Captainís Charity Bowmaker at Taunton and Pickeridge last weekend, when as a result of a highly successful and enjoyable day just over £900 was raised for this yearís joint Charity of Parkinsonís UK.

Two teams headed the field with 92, but after countback it was Clive Hardy, Mark Coleman, Steve Johns and David Potter who edged into top spot just ahead of Roger Howard, Lyn and Nigel Gridley and Robert Stenhouse.

Countback was also needed to sort out the next places after two teams also scored 91, following which it was Craig Hamond, Mark Hammond, Arthur Sinclair and Adam Huxtable who were third while Rob Irish, Glen Brooks, Laurence Leader and Malcolm Lawrence were fourth.

The leading Ladies team was Ali McGowan, Jacky Lyn, Patsy Morgan and Jackie Pike with 81, and the leading Mixed team was Carol and Alan Keenan and Terina and Kevin Parker who scored 86.

Fiona Lockyer won the Nearest the Pin on the 6th, and the nearest the pin in 2 on the 18th and the Longest Drive on the 11th, Keith Welsher won the Nearest the Pin on the 10th and Darryl Pengelly won the Longest Drive on the 5th.

On Tuesday the Ladies Section had two competitions today, The Joan Elliott Trophy for all the divisional medal winners; and a Stableford competition,

The Joan Elliott Trophy for the medal winners went to Heather Crump with nett 73, while Patsy Morgan was second with 79.

The Stableford competition was won by Shirley Portis on countback ahead of second placed Jan Olive after both scored 37 points, while Jenny Bevan was third with 36.

Janet Kingston scored the only two of the round.

The 9-hole Stableford was won by Mary Shepherd, with Jackie Denton- Cox second.

Last week the Ladies Section held their Autumn Meeting, when the winner of the of the Club Cup in the Silver Division with a gross score of 84 was Caroline Cooper.

In the Silver Division Nett Comp it was heather Crump who was the winners with 75 two ahead of Ali McGowan on 77.

In the Bronze Division the winner of the Eileen Green Trophy with a gross of 99 was Patsy Morgan.

First in the net comp was Liz Reeve with 73, and second was Bernie Hatcher with 77.

The Vets Stableford winner was Mary Guy with 31 points, while the winner of the

9 hole Stableford was Emilia O'Boyle with 15. Spot Prizes were won by Jackie Pike (2nd hole), Vi Gray (6th) and Mary Guy on the 16th.

Mary Guy had the only two on the day on the 6th Hole.
