  T&P Juniors share South Somerset League title  

CONGRATULATIONS to Taunton & Pickeridge Juniors who at the end of the final round of the Somerset Junior League (South) championships that took place at Burnham and Berrow on Sunday ended up tied at the top with their Oake Manor counterparts with 28 points each

The five who represented T&P on Sunday were Peter McGivern, Kyle Miller, James Rew, Matthew Canfield and Benjamin Newman while in previous rounds Chloe and Angus Brandhuber, George Geddes, Finley Pyke and James Bird have all made valuable contributions.

T&P Ladies played an American Greensomes Stableford last week at the end of which it was Terina Parker and Georgia Richards with 43 points who were the winners, two ahead of second placed Louise Worth and Rosie Spragg with 41.

Berni Hatcher and Lin Brown claimed third with 39 points, one ahead of
Marlene Ewens and Margaret Blackaller who were fourth with 38.

On a beautiful Autumn Day last week 15 ladies played for the October Trophy , a non qualifying stableford over 15 holes.

At the end of an enjoyable round the winner of the trophy that was presented to the club by long standing member Diana Bowerman in 2002 was Pat Follett with 31 points, two ahead of second placed Sue Walsh with 29.

The inaugural Seniors Past Captain’s Day competition took place last week which was contested by eight previous holders of the post.

The weather was kind and at the end of a very close contest it was Tim Paris who was the winner with 38 points. Following the golf everyone enjoyed an excellent curry meal post match accompanied by some wine and even a bottle of port!

The T&P Seniors look forward to the competition continuing in 2022.
