  Mike Cooper and John Ruff win T&P Seniors Away Day  

GARY Kayser’s Senior Captain’s Away Day took place at Stover Golf Club when 22 pairs made the journey to South Devon to compete for the Ted Cunneber Trophy.

At the end of what is always a good day day of golf it was Mike Cooper (on the left) and John Ruff who won after countback put them ahead of Robin Cracknell and Paul Parnell after both scored 41 points.. Third place was taken by Mike Crump and Martin Moore with 40 points.

The Hewlett Mixed Greensomes a Ladies' Invitation competition took place at Taunton and Pickeridge Golf Club on Sunday, when 20 pairs enjoyed the sunny weather and a two course meal afterwards.

The winners of the Hewlett Rose Bowl with a score of 45 points were Sue Ensell and Martin Hogan one point ahead of Lin Brown and James Candfield with 44. Two pairs returned with 43 points but following count back it was Hilary Coates and Keith Wiggins , who were third just edging ahead of Judy Powell and Mark Ramsden.

The Ladies Invitation Day on Tuesday was a very enjoyable event, played as a 4BBB with a twist, with Power Play Options on three different holes to play for a difficult pin position, doubling a counting score while Mulligans could be bought for the Ladies’ Captain’s charity SURE which raised £48.

The winners with 50 points were Stephanie Bristow and Pat Greenfield, second place was claimed by Jane Martin-Scott and Irene Munday with 48. Two pairs returned with 46 points but after count back it was Gill Shire and Karen Potter who were third edging head of fourth placed Lin Brown and Shanni Whisler.

Nearest the Pin on the second hole was won by Jan Hill, on the sixth it went to jeanne Leader, while Nearest the Pin in two shots was won by Marlene Ewens.

Monday’s Junior Evening was pretty hot work as was the golf which saw Finley Pyke with 41 points just pipping Benjamin Newman who finished with 40 while returning from injury Charlie Jones came third with 34 in the singles event over 18 holes.

The 9 hole event produced an easy winner with Chloe Bradhuber claiming the honours again.
