Jacky Ford hoping for normal safe golf in 21

CLUB Captain elect Jacky Ford is hoping upon hope that there will be some semblance of a normal and safe golfing season in 2021.

Ford, who will become the first woman to become club captain at T&P, first joined T&P back in the 1983 since when she has served on several committees, including Chair of the Club Development Committee, helping with coaching the Saturday Juniors’ sessions and was Ladies’ Captain in 2016.

Looking forward to her special the Captain Elect said: “Depending on lockdown or tier restrictions, I hope the Club can kick-start the year with the traditional Captains’ Drive-In Double-Barrelled Shotgun competition. This is scheduled to take place on the Saturday after the AGM and I’m looking forward to playing with Ladies’ Captain Elect Ali McGown, Seniors’ Captain Elect Gary Kayser and Junior Captain George Geddes.

Ford went on : “Other events Members can look forward to this year include- my Captain’s Away Day at Lyme Regis Golf Club in May Captain’s Day in July when I hope as many members – young, old and in-between - as possible will play, the Pro-Am in July and Captain/Professional Challenge Matches.”

She added: “Someone once said that “Golf is a good walk spoiled” but that is far from the truth. The pandemic has shown how important golf is, not only for sporting reasons, but for a sense of physical and mental wellbeing. Oh, and, hopefully, we’ll be in a position to hold social events again at the 19th hole!”
