Skipper Matt ends speculation about his future

SOUTHERN Premier South side Taunton Town have extended the contract of skipper Matt Wright to the end of the 2019-20 season.

The striker signed for Taunton in the summer of 2016 from Truro City and captained the side to the Southern League West Division title in 2018. He continued to be captain last season, netting 14 goals as Taunton finished one point behind champions Weymouth in Southern Premier South.
Wright said: "Naturally we're all disappointed to have missed out on the title but it's still been a great year for the club.
"Hopefully, we'll improve on this next season in what will no doubt be another rollercoaster.
Taunton's head of football Rob Dray said: "He's been a huge part of the last three years at this club and the success it has had on and off the pitch. To secure him yet again gives us more stability."
Meanwhile, Taunton have made their first signing of the summer - 25-year-old midfielder Jamie Short from Street.
It is his second spell with Taunton, having also played Southern League football for neighbours Tiverton.
Meanwhile, Taunton have arranged a pre-season friendly at home to Exeter City on Thursday, July 25 (7p.m.).
