Lydeard Reserves enjoy two wins this week

 

BISHOPS Lydeard Reserves have opened up a four-point lead at the top of the first division in the Invest Southwest Taunton Saturday League following a comfortable away win over North Petherton.

They won 5-2 and have two games in hand on Westonzoyland who moved up to second place with a 3-0 home victory over Watchet Town Reserves.
Galmington Dragons hammered bottom side Morganians 7-0 away while Alcombe Rovers and Redgate fought out a 3-3 draw in West Somerset.
Porlock lost for the 11th time this season, slumping to a 5-2 defeat away to Creech Cougars.
FC Castledmoat were 9-3 home winners over Minehead Town Reserves and stay top of Division Two but second-placed Stogursey kept up the pressure with a 5-2 away success against Bridgwater Sports Reserves.
Dulverton Town were impressive 6-1 home winners over Bridgwater Grasshoppers while North Curry suffered a 3-1 home loss against White Eagles.
Wembdon Reserves remain on top of Division Three despite dropping two points in a 2-2 home draw against fourth-placed Nether Stowey.
Wellington A, in fifth spot with games in hand on all the teams above them, also dropped crucial points in a 2-2 home draw against second-placed Wyvern United.
Porlock Reserves, on the bottom of the table, put up a spirited fight before losing 3-2 at home to Norton Fitzwarren Reserves while Morganians Reserves were involved in the most thrilling game of the day - a 5-5 draw at home to Hamilton Foxes.
North Petherton Reserves gained three good points in a 3-2 away win over Minehead Town Colts.
The big game the previous night in the KO Cup between two of the top teams in Division One ended in a 4-1 victory for Bridgwater Sports over Wembdon.

Earlier in the week Bishops Lydeard Reserves beat Porlock 5-0 in the Rowbarton Charity Cup with Pat Sherwood (2) and Cahal Robertson (3) netting the goals for the first division leaders.
