Banton enjoys success out in Oz over the weekend

 

BATSMAN/Keeper Tom Banton claimed the honours among the Somerset players who were in action in Premier Grade Cricket out in Australia over the weekend..

Playing for South Perth against Rockingham-Mandurah the 20 year old opened the innings and hit 33 off 39 balls, which included three 4s and a 6 before he was first wicket to fall on 58, which helped his team posted 225 for six from their 50 overs.

Tom then donned the ‘keepers gloves for the first time this winter and claimed three catches as Rockhampton were dismissed for 187 in 49.4 overs.

Tom Abell was back in action for Fremantle in their match against Perth and although he only contributed four runs of his sides 199 all out, he then opened the bowling.

The Somerset skipper reduced Perth to 23 for two before they recovered to reach 200 for seven, Tom ending with three for 34 from his nine overs one of which was a maiden.

Playing for Gosnells against Midland-Guildford, Ben Green made one run out of his sides 149 all out in 49 overs and then claimed one for 28 from his eight overs as the opposition reached 150 for seven in 46.4 overs.

Neither Tim Rouse nor Ollie Sale played over the weekend.
