Somerset County Sports sponsor two young cricketers

CRICKET mad youngsters George and Josh Thomas, have just been awarded a two year sponsorship deal by QDOS which is part of Somerset County Sports, who are based at the Cooper Associates County Ground in Taunton.

Both Thomas brothers play cricket for King’s College in Taunton where they are pupils, in addition to which they play for their respective county age groups. George is already part of the Somerset Emerging Player Program and Josh will be joining him this autumn.

George is 15 years old, a hard hitting right handed batsman and fast medium bowler, while brother Josh is 13 and a slow left arm bowler who also bats left handed.

The brothers play their club cricket for Taunton St Andrews and this summer George was a member of the Saints side that came runners up in the Finals of the ECB Under 15 National Club T20 competition, while Josh not only played in the Under 15’s final but also appeared for the Saints in the ECB National Club Under 13s Finals Day.

During the summer both George and Josh made their senior debuts for Taunton St Andrews where they have both played their cricket for a number of years.

The Somerset County Sports award supplies each of the players with two bats, two pairs of batting gloves, a pair of batting pads and a carry bag from the latest QDOS range of cricket kit.

Richard Brice, the Managing Director of Somerset County Sports, who until last year was also the chairman of Taunton St Andrews Cricket Club said: “Both George and Josh Thomas are very talented young cricketers who have already made their debuts for the Saints in senior cricket.

“Somerset County Sports are delighted to be able to offer sponsorship to both George and Thomas to help them to continue with their cricketing development and hope that this will be the start of a long association with them as they go forward in their playing careers.”
