Wellington hand out cricket awards

 

WELLINGTON Cricket Club have held one of its best-ever dinner and awards events when 108 members and guests gathered at the Cleve Hotel for the end of season event.

Among the guests were Wellington AFC vice-chairman Graham Aspin and his wife Ann and Wellington Rugby Club president Matt Colman and his wife Steph.

On the playing side, Wellington's first team won promotion to the Somerset Division of the West of England League after finishing third in the Premier Division of the Somerset League and also won the Division A championship in the Somerset County Sports Taunton Sunday League.

There was also success for the Under 11s who won Division B West in the Taunton Youth League.

Awards for the 2018 season were presented by club coach Pete Sanderson as follows: Full Stop Security Taunton and District Youth League Under 11s Division B West Division Winners Trophy 2018, Tony Hutchings Youth Section Secretary; Somerset County Sports Sunday League Championship Trophy 2018, Macaulay Campbell Sunday XI Captain.

Hundreds made/five wickets taken in 2018, 1st XI - Arron Campbell 6-17 v Taunton Deane 2 (h) Saturday 19th May; Jack Beal 5-21 v Taunton Deane 2 (a) Saturday 21st July ; Tom Chambers 108* v Taunton St Andrews 2 (a) Saturday 7th July.

2nd XI - Macaulay Campbell 5-22 v Kilmington and Stourton (h) Saturday 23rd June; Mark Salter 104 v Barrington (a) Saturday 11th August; Aks Latifi 150* v North Perrott 2 (h) Saturday 18th August; Rob Moysey 5-20 v Kilmington and Stourton (a) Saturday 25th August.

3rd XI - Richard Henwood 5-18 v Kilmington and Stourton 2nd XI (a) Saturday 19th May; Richard Henwood 5-20 v Kilmington and Stourton 2nd XI (h) Saturday 21st July; Andy Hurry 5-11 v Langport 2nd XI (h) Saturday 4th August.
